The popularity of vaping is evident everywhere! The research of e-cigarettes is in its infancy and large scale/ long term studies are underway. The myth that “vaping” is safe needs to be abandoned. Emergency rooms are replete with patients complaining of shortness of breath, chest pains, pulmonary distress, coma, and in some cases even death. Dentists, nationwide, are seeing surges of dental disease in patients previously cavity free and gum disease free. Youth are becoming addicted to nicotine and other substances whose habits will affect them for a lifetime.
A recent report from Well-Ahead Louisiana and Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco Free Living has found that vaping among the state’s middle and high school students has doubled since 2017 and tripled since 2015. They also state that vaping can harm a teen’s still-developing brain and negatively affect memory, learning, and concentration.
Youth do not see the risks that vaping can have, it's important for adults to understand the products teens and kids are using and the risks they pose to their overall health.
What are the risks?
